The exhaustive research conducted over a period of some thirty years had never been attempted by anyone else. The book represents the most in-depth study ever undertaken of the various badges and insignia worn, or used by, members of the North West Mounted Police {NWMP}, Royal North West Mounted Police {RNWMP} and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police {RCMP}.
No potential source of information was overlooked; included were the National Archives of Canada and the RCMP Archives, both located in Ottawa, Ontario; the RCMP Museum in Regina, Saskatchewan; Glenbow-Alberta Museum in Calgary, Alberta; Archives of the Province of Manitoba in Winnipeg; Archives of the Province of Saskatchewan in Regina; Archives of the Province of Alberta in Edmonton and the Yukon Archives in Whitehorse and Dawson City. The archives located at many smaller museums were also perused, as well as the documentation accumulated by many private collectors. Some research was undertaken in England.
Additional
information was gleaned from NWMP, RNWMP and RCMP General Orders and Annual Reports.
This work will, without a doubt, be the definitive work on Mounted Police badges
and insignia for many years to come.Printed on 70 lb., matt coated stock; hard
